Suzuki group classes are an important part of the Suzuki method. The classes serve many purposes including: Reinforcing skills: Group classes reinforce skills taught in private lessons, such as posture, tone, and technique. They also provide opportunities to improve musicianship skills, like note reading, musical terminology, and basic music theory.
Preparing for ensemble playing: Group classes teach children how to play together in a group setting, which is essential for playing in orchestras and chamber music groups.
Building a community: Group classes can create a community for both students and parents, providing a support system that can motivate students to continue studying their instrument. Introducing broader teaching points: Group classes can be a way to introduce broader teaching points, such as music theory. Providing positive peer pressure: Group classes can provide positive peer pressure for students to continue studying their instrument. Being fun: Group classes should be fun! Group classes will meet once a month on Mondays. The studio will be divided into two group classes. Students can fulfill their Group Class requirement by being a part of a school or community orchestra.
